Treatment of Acne in dogs.

Just like we human beings do suffer from acne/pimples so also do our dogs suffer from acne and this is known as canine-acne. Before i talk on the treatment of acne in pets, i will first tell you the causes and how to avoid it. The cause is often the result of changing hormones and some breeds of dogs mostly affected are basenjis and pitbulls. So to avoid acne you have to watch out on thier diet, to avoid acne. Another common cause is drinking or eating from old plastic bowls because these cannot be cleaned properly even with bleach. And bacteria can live on them. Instead replace the plastic bowls with stainless or ceramic bowls. Treatment of acne in dogs:- 1)make sure you wash the plates you use in giving your pets food or water with veterinary washer that contain benzoyl peroxide 2) the use of supplements that contains omega fatty acids will help in maintaining the skin condition. Avoid mystery ingredients in pet foods such as 'meat meal' and meat by products all these may contribute to pets developing allergies and this can result to acne. 3) Exposure to sunlight is another sure way of getting rid of canine acne. 4) washers that contain benzoyl peroxide can be used as directed by the veterinary doctor but while using this, make sure it doesn't get near the dogs eyes. Do not use human acne medication on your dogs because their acne is different from that of human beings.
